I am pleased to be offering a breastfeeding workshop for doulas at the Santa Barbara Birth Center Annex (2958 State St Santa Barbara, CA) on April 13th from 8:30 am - noon. This 3.5 hour class meets the requirement for DONA certification, and it's great information for anyone working with breastfeeding mothers. Space is limited so register early!
Taught by Jessica Barton, IBCLC, a lactation consultant in both private and clinical practice and a birth doula, this class will cover all the basics of supporting new mothers from first latch through the toddler years. You will learn how to deal with common challenges, including sore nipples, engorgement, plugged ducts, low milk supply, pumping and storing milk, going back to work or school, and weaning. There will be a discussion of warning signs to look out for that require a referral to a lactation professional. This is an interactive class, and there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion as well as fascinating video footage and hands-on practice.
A certificate of completion will be provided for DONA certification.
Register Early! This class will have a maximum of 10 participants.
Early Bird Registration - $75
Day Of Workshop Registration - $80
